On April 13th The SaddleTones will perform on WDVRs Heartlands Hayride which airs from 6:00 to 8:00. WDVR is the only radio station in the northeast that airs a two-hour live Traditional Country Music Show, much in the tradition of The Grand Ole Opry. If you can’t attend the show in person you may tune-in locally on WDVR-FM 89.7 or via the web at www.wdvrfm.org. CD Review By Steve Ramm – Anything Phonographic…

Though the name of the band is The SaddleTones, the core of this debut CD is the lead singer – Miss Laurie Ann who composed nine if the 11 songs. Miss Laurie Ann pays tribute – in her own way – to the great female “country” singers of the past. “Last Ounce of Pride” could have been sung by Patsy Cline, “Detour to Nowhere” is something Wanda Jackson might have done and “Long and Lonely Night” has the Kitty Wells feel to it. The CD closes out with, what I think is the best track: “Dangerous Love”, with a chorus that will stay in your head long after it ends.

The SaddleTones are proud purveyors of a Rock-Boppin Country sound that is nothing short of infectious. Hitch Yer Wagon is a swing around a honky-tonk dance floor. “The Last To Know” frolics amid piano and guitar riffs and “Give Me Just A Little Bit” spices the sound with a dose of Tex-Mex, with enough accents left over to slow down the beat for a Texas Tornado-style “What Happened In Vegas”. Lead vocalist, and song-writer, Miss Laurie Ann, has a voice that is pure classic country in the vein of Kitty Wells meets Wanda Jackson. The SaddleTones weave and wander across the landscape of Hitch Yer Wagon with a boppin bounce that is as warm and friendly as your favorite watering hole.

The SaddleTones have been chosen to play at The 4th Annual Night of Honky Tonk Angels show in Richmond Virginia on Saturday June 1st. The show features female led all original honky tonk bands with 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales going to support the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation.  www.vcbf.org
